Lincoln is Three
I can't believe our youngest is three years old! It feels weird to not have a baby right now, but I am so glad we are moving on to the next phase of life. (Is it possible to have negative baby fever?)
I thought I would feel more sad at this point, our last baby growing out of the baby stage. But I actually love it! The current phase he's in is not my favorite, but I am so glad that I'm 100% done with pregnancy/newborn/potty training/etc. It's such a strange thing, after having been in the baby stage for 12 years.
Also, if I wasn't already done, Lincoln's attitude problem would have made me done!
Things Lincoln loves:
- String cheese
- Beating up Rome
When he's not being wild, he's sweet and cuddly. He knows how to work the iPad better than me, he needs magic kissies any time he's hurt, and he loves snuggling with Brody.
He really, really wants to go to preschool, like Rome. But I want them to get to know the good kid first, before I unleash Lincoln on them next year.
Lincoln's Birth Story:
I was 35 weeks 4 days when the contractions started. They were getting intense by 8pm, so we called my mom over to stay with the big kids.
We got to the hospital, got checked in, and found out that I was Group B Strep Positive. I had never been positive before, so I was pretty surprised but apparently it's common.
We placed my epidural right away to help stall labor so the antibiotics would have time to take effect. We spent the night dozing and chatting.
I woke up the next day not feeling much. They checked me and I was only at a 7, so I sent Ryan back to the house to take the boys to school.
About 10 minutes later, I started feeling some pressure. I called the nurse to check me. I was at a 10 and Lincoln's head was in the birthing canal.
I called Ryan in a panic and told him to get back. I started doing breathing exercises and willed myself not to push. The doctor came in, gowned up, as the nurses were in a flurry getting the newborn things prepared.
Finally, after five of the longest minutes of my life, Ryan crashed into the room. I breathed a huge sigh and Lincoln was born in 10 seconds.
He was early, so he needed a little monitoring, but he ended up being good to go and we went home on time.
Happy 3rd Birthday, stinky Linky!! We love you!
